Senior Staff Engineer, Weapons Physical Integration

Location: Remote

Salary: $170,000–$260,000 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular full-time employees.

What you will do

• Lead mechanical weapons and payload integration activities for X-BAT aircraft in collaboration with aircraft design teams.
• Design weapons bays, external pylons, fittings, suspension fixtures, and release-mounting hardware using best practices and MIL-STD-1289.
• Work with analysis teams to iterate and improve designs.
• Support design reviews and report on design-process accomplishments.
• Support integration and testing, including ground and flight tests.
• Serve as the subject-matter expert for the physical integration of weapons and payloads.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in mechanical or mechanism design.
• B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
• Strong CAD skills; NX is preferred.
• Familiarity with Bomb Rack Units/Assemblies (BRA/BRU) and Launcher Assembly Units (LAU).
• Knowledge of pneumatic power systems used in military aircraft.
• Demonstrated experience designing suspension and release mounting fixtures and fittings.
• Demonstrated experience with weapon pylons and the ability to design mechanical systems.
• Ability to work independently in fast-paced, cross-functional teams and across functional organizations.
• Demonstrated record of working hard, being trustworthy, maintaining high standards, and treating others with kindness.

Nice to have

• Ability to obtain an S//SAR-level security clearance.
• Experience with UAVs, aircraft, or robotic systems.
• Familiarity with electromechanical actuators.
• Hands-on machine-shop or mechanic experience, either professional or hobbyist.
• Ability to thrive in startup, R&D, or defense-innovation environments.
