Research Scientist (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States; regular team on-sites, company-wide events, and intentional in-person gatherings may take place.

What you will do

• Conduct research to develop new functionality and improve technologies across fraud, voice and speech, video, authentication, and deepfake detection.
• Design, implement, and evaluate deep learning algorithms and machine learning models for complex datasets.
• Work with research engineers and engineering teams to transition research prototypes into efficient, production-ready systems across cloud and edge environments.
• Analyze system behavior, identify detection gaps, and recommend practical improvements for customers.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings, research and code reviews, and publish patents and peer-reviewed papers in leading conferences.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or Artificial Intelligence, or equivalent industry research experience.
• Experience ranging from 1–3 years for early-career researchers to 6+ years for Senior or Principal Research Scientists.
• Strong Python programming skills and hands-on mastery of modern machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Keras.
• Successful project delivery, peer-reviewed research publication, or demonstrated ability to translate research findings into practical improvements such as models, decision systems, or production recommendations.
• Foundational or expert-level knowledge of biometrics, identity authentication, fraud patterns, audio/video pipelines, or consumer security concepts.
• Ability to work rigorously through multiple experimental iterations, navigate ambiguity, and maintain technical integrity, documentation, and model reproducibility.
• Ability to explain complex AI and machine learning concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders and make evidence-based technical decisions.
