Senior Machine Learning Researcher (Cybersecurity)

Location: Hybrid role based in the Cambridge office, United Kingdom, with compulsory attendance two days per week

What you will do

• Explore solutions to complex problems across multiple domains using large language models, statistical methods, and classical machine learning.
• Prototype new ideas and contribute to extensive machine learning research initiatives.
• Collaborate with software engineers and security analysis teams to test and implement research outcomes.
• Implement machine learning models within the wider software stack.
• Optimize models for latency and memory when deploying them in varied environments, including edge devices.
• Work independently and make decisions while contributing to collaborative projects.

Requirements

• PhD or master's degree in machine learning, a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with Python machine learning libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or scikit-learn.
• Deep understanding of large language models and applications including transfer learning, embeddings, generative usage, and agentic functionality.
• Ability to work effectively in a team while operating autonomously and making independent decisions.
• Ability to attend the Cambridge office two days per week.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with agentic systems tooling and infrastructure, including MCP servers, vector databases, memory, and ontologies.
• Experience with cloud AI services such as AWS Bedrock, Azure AI Foundry, Vertex AI, or Copilot Studio.
• Experience with varied machine learning techniques, Linux, and Git.
• Basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts and common threats, including threats specific to AI systems.
