Senior Ceded Reinsurance Accounting Analyst

Location: Hybrid in Warren, New Jersey, United States; 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.

Salary: $85,000–$115,000 annually.

What you will do

• Prepare ceded accounts and bordereaux, and record ceded payable and recoverable amounts for domestic operations.
• Manage collections, settlements, cash application, and reconciliation of ceded reinsurance accounts to the general ledger.
• Review and interpret complex reinsurance contracts and facultative certificates, including quota share, excess of loss, automatic facultative, aggregates, retentions, inuring coverages, exclusions, and adjustable features.
• Set up and maintain treaties and facultative contracts in the ceded reinsurance accounting system.
• Work with underwriting, claims, actuarial, internal departments, and reinsurance partners to resolve accounting issues and ensure accurate reporting.
• Support quarterly and annual GAAP financial reporting, Sarbanes-Oxley controls, process improvements, and technical guidance for junior staff.

Requirements

• BS/BA degree in accounting, finance, or business.
• 4–6 years of finance or accounting experience.
• Strong understanding and knowledge of ceded reinsurance accounting functions, principles, and practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, technical accounting, organizational, and time-management skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, VLOOKUPs, and advanced data analysis.
• Strong technical knowledge of general ledger and accounting systems.
• Strong interpersonal, collaboration, oral communication, and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines, work independently and within a team, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Experience in the accounting department of a property and casualty insurance or reinsurance company.
• Knowledge or experience with the Global XL Pro system.
• Knowledge of SQL.
• Experience with Oracle.
