Postdoctoral Research Fellow - Biostatistics and Cancer Genetics (Biostatistics/Cancer Genetics)

Location: Boston, MA, US; hybrid work with 2–3 days onsite per week.

Salary: $72,000–$76,385 per year.

What you will do

• Conduct biostatistical analyses for an NIH-funded R01 project focused on prediction models for germline pathogenic variants.
• Clean, derive, harmonize, quality-control, and integrate large clinical, genetic, and genomic datasets from multiple institutions.
• Develop and validate prediction models, evaluating discrimination, calibration, clinical utility, subgroup performance, and institutional performance.
• Design and conduct simulation studies, computational evaluations, and methodological research motivated by cancer genetics projects.
• Support clinical, translational, and observational cancer genetics studies through study design, analysis plans, statistical analysis, and interpretation.
• Prepare reproducible programs, tables, figures, manuscripts, presentations, reports, abstracts, and grant applications while communicating with multidisciplinary collaborators.

Requirements

• PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in Biostatistics at the time of appointment.
• Strong training in applied biostatistical methods and experience with regression modeling and statistical methods used in clinical or biomedical research.
• Strong statistical programming skills, preferably in R.
• Experience using Git and GitHub/GitLab for version control and collaborative development of reproducible statistical code and analysis workflows.
• Experience with data management, data derivation, and statistical analysis of clinical or biomedical datasets.
• Ability to independently conduct analyses from preparation of analysis-ready datasets through interpretation and presentation of results.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Interest in collaborative biomedical research and multidisciplinary teamwork.

Nice to have

• Experience with prediction modeling, statistical learning, penalized regression, or related methods.
• Experience analyzing large observational, clinical, genetic, genomic, or other complex biomedical datasets.
• Experience working with data from multiple sources or institutions.
• Experience with simulation studies or computational evaluation of statistical methods.
• Experience contributing statistical analyses and interpretation to peer-reviewed biomedical manuscripts.
• Familiarity with cancer research, genetic epidemiology, cancer genetics, or genomic data analysis.
