Associate Research Scientist

Location: Fully remote in the United States; candidates near hirify.global offices may choose hybrid work with office attendance on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Authorization to work in the United States is required. Travel up to 6–8 times per year is required.

Salary: $80,000–$135,000 annually.

What you will do

• Collaborate with program partners, product owners, field staff, and researchers to identify research needs and design studies supporting student success through evidence-based findings.
• Conduct customized research for individual K–12 districts and tailor research questions, analyses, and deliverables to their needs.
• Acquire, clean, organize, and manage student transcript data from districts and other partners, including building repeatable processes for varied data sources.
• Design and maintain data pipelines that merge transcript data with institutional and outcomes datasets, including data-quality checks and documentation.
• Build, maintain, and iterate dashboards and analytic tools that show trends in advanced high school course taking and related outcomes.
• Conduct advanced statistical analyses, prepare reports, memos, presentations, and visualizations, and communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education, Psychology, Educational Measurement, Economics, Sociology, Public Policy, or a related quantitative field.
• Excellent data coding, manipulation, and analysis skills, with a strong foundation in research methodology and advanced statistical techniques.
• Experience collecting, cleaning, and organizing large, messy, real-world datasets from multiple external sources, including student transcript or administrative K–12 data.
• Experience building dashboards or data visualization tools, such as Tableau, for varied audiences.
• Experience with large, national datasets related to the education industry and the ability to work accurately and quickly with new datasets.
• Strong problem-solving, adaptability, organization, prioritization, and multitasking skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presenting to technical and non-technical audiences and authoring reports for publication.
• Ability to collaborate agilely with researchers and non-researchers and support organizational priorities.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
