Cloud Platform Engineer (Kubernetes)

Location: London, Old Street; hybrid setup with 2 days in the office required.

What you will do

• Build relationships with product engineering teams and turn their workflow pain points into a developer experience roadmap.
• Design application golden paths and drive adoption across services.
• Shape the Internal Developer Platform for self-service provisioning from idea to production with built-in standards.
• Drive progressive delivery with Flux and define standards for Kubernetes, RBAC, CRDs, Headlamp, Mirrord, configuration, variables, and secrets.
• Lead service autodiscovery, dependency mapping, and health-check standards in collaboration with SRE.
• Mentor engineers, review designs and code, document solutions, use AI safely to accelerate delivery, and measure developer experience through data.

Requirements

• Significant experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or developer tooling, including building platforms or tools used by other engineers.
• Experience designing and rolling out golden paths, paved roads, or self-service platforms and driving adoption.
• Deep experience with CI/CD at scale, using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Octopus Deploy, or similar tools.
• Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Docker, including setting standards for teams deploying to Kubernetes.
• Experience with GitOps and progressive delivery using Flux, Argo CD, Flagger, or similar tools.
• Strong infrastructure and platform coding skills with tools such as Terraform.
• Proficiency in Go, C#, Python, or PowerShell, with experience building tools for developers.
• Good understanding of how application teams build software, ideally including .NET experience.
• Strong product mindset, including user communication, outcome measurement, and evidence-based prioritisation.
• Ability to influence across teams, explain trade-offs clearly, work closely with colleagues in the office, and mentor engineers.
