Data Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Atlanta, Georgia, United States; participation in a 24/7 on-call Pager rotation is required.

Salary: $116,000–$152,250 USD annually, depending on experience, location, business needs, and market demand.

What you will do

• Provide on-call technical support for analysts, data consumers, and data engineering teams, resolving query optimization issues, reporting anomalies, failed jobs, pipeline problems, and data inconsistencies.
• Investigate data quality issues, respond to alerts, and support internal and external audit and control requirements.
• Design and implement batch and real-time pipelines to data warehouses and data lakes, including transformation technologies, monitoring dashboards, and support tools.
• Lead initiatives that improve data pipelines and operational capabilities, identify inefficiencies, and implement automation solutions using AI techniques.
• Create support documentation, troubleshooting guides, runbooks, FAQs, and knowledge-base content.
• Drive operational best practices for consumer support, monitoring, incident management, problem management, access administration, and 24/7 on-call coverage; mentor and onboard support data engineers.

Requirements

• 3+ years of data engineering experience focused on operational support.
• Advanced SQL skills with proven query optimization experience.
• Strong problem-solving, ownership, accountability, customer orientation, attention to detail, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Python proficiency for automation and data processing.
• Experience with cloud data platforms including AWS, Databricks, and Spark.
• Understanding of data warehousing, ETL/ELT processing, dimensional data modeling, batch ingestion, and real-time technologies such as Kafka or Kinesis.
• Working knowledge of orchestration and monitoring tools including Airflow, Datadog, Databand, DataFold, Monte Carlo, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Strong incident management and root cause analysis capabilities, including ownership and coordination of issues across multiple time zones.
• Ability to work effectively within teams and across organizational boundaries, plus experience identifying operational inefficiencies and implementing AI-based automation.

Nice to have

• Experience with data streaming patterns and tools such as dbt.
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices for data pipelines, including Buildkite or GitHub Actions.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Looker.
• Exposure to database design, performance analysis, and data quality metrics.
• Exposure to data science, machine learning, and AI applications.
