Senior Contract C++ / JavaScript Software Engineer (Firefox): Improving Session History test coverage and Gecko correctness in the Firefox browser engine with an accent on Web-Platform tests, Gecko mochitests, and mature-codebase debugging. Focus on fixing failing tests, resolving browser-engine problems, and iterating through code review to upstream changes.

Location: Remote Germany; other location: Remote Canada

hirify.global develops the Firefox browser and its Gecko browser engine.

What you will do

  • Write Web-Platform tests to improve Session History coverage and Gecko mochitests as needed.
  • Fix problems and failing tests to improve Gecko correctness.
  • Work through code review with relevant Gecko module owners.
  • Iterate on changes through upstream landing.
  • Improve Session History test coverage and code correctness, measured by passed test cases.

Requirements

  • Substantial experience in a browser-engine codebase or in browser-engine automation, ideally Firefox/Gecko.
  • Solid JavaScript experience applied to automated test development.
  • Proficiency in and experience developing software in C++.
  • Strong debugging skills in a mature, large codebase.
  • Comfort working in the open with public bugs, code review, and upstream landing.

Nice to have

  • Prior contributions to Gecko or another major browser engine.
  • Familiarity with web standards and Web Platform Tests.
