TL;DR
Device Reliability Testing Engineer (Graphene Photonics): Designing and executing wafer-level reliability testing for integrated graphene photonic devices with an accent on failure analysis, high-speed RF characterization, and long-term stability. Focus on investigating graphene-related failure mechanisms, performing VNA-based measurements, and qualifying products against JEDEC, OIF, IEC, and IEEE standards.
Location: Hybrid in Aachen, Germany
Company
hirify.global develops graphene photonic solutions that connect chips through high-throughput, low-delay computing networks while improving computing power and energy efficiency.
What you will do
Design and execute wafer-level device reliability test plans for graphene-based photonic devices, including DC bias, RF endurance, thermal cycling, and long-term stability tests.
Identify and investigate physical mechanisms behind graphene-related failure modes.
Characterize and monitor extinction ratio, insertion loss, bandwidth retention, energy efficiency, dark current stability, and responsivity degradation over device lifetime.
Lead structured root-cause investigations using FMEA and 8D methodologies, feeding findings back to Design and Process teams.
Collaborate with Product Quality and other teams to achieve compliance with JEDEC, OIF, IEC, and IEEE standards and produce qualification and reliability documentation.
Support the transition of graphene photonics from prototype to production-qualified products for high-volume deployment.
Requirements
Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or Photonics Engineering.
Hands-on experience in semiconductor device physics, optoelectronics, or reliability engineering.
Hands-on experience in photonic device characterization and reliability testing.
Experience with high-speed RF testing above 40 GHz and VNA-based S-parameter measurements.
Experience with advanced test equipment, including VNAs, real-time and sampling oscilloscopes rated at 50+ GHz, lightwave component analyzers, optical spectrum analyzers, and probe stations.
Culture & Benefits
Flexible, human-centric work culture focused on work-life harmony.
Autonomy and continuous learning opportunities supporting professional and personal development.
Benefits package including insurance, pension, and virtual stock options.
