Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer (AI)

Location: Brooklyn, New York, US, or remote within the United States. Flex mode requires traveling to an office location 4+ times per month; remote and office-based modes are also available.

Salary: $245,000–$319,000 annually.

What you will do

• Architect and lead the technical strategy for AI/ML solutions across Search, Recommendations, and Ads.
• Lead teams in researching, designing, and operationalizing AI/ML solutions for customer problems and opportunities.
• Develop advanced approaches including hybrid retrieval, multi-task deep learning, Generative Recommendations, and agentic shopping experiences.
• Define and execute product and technical roadmaps with cross-functional engineering, product, and leadership partners.
• Lead mid- and long-term AI research, drive technical alignment, and make data-driven decisions through experimentation.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers across the organization.

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive experience in ML and AI.
• Experience building large-scale, high-performance models and systems.
• Deep end-to-end ML/AI development experience, including large-scale model training and serving.
• Foundational and practical understanding of machine learning principles and productionizing models at scale.
• Proficiency with modern data processing frameworks such as Spark, Beam, or Hadoop, and ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
• Ability to define and solve highly ambiguous or unconstrained technical problems.
• Proven collaboration with engineers, leaders, and product managers to complete complex projects.
