Senior Databricks Platform Engineer (Azure)

Location: Warsaw Downtown Office, Poland. Hybrid work model with the option to work from home two days per week and regular office presence.

What you will do

• Evaluate new Azure Databricks features through proofs of concept, security and cost assessments, scalability reviews, and adoption recommendations.
• Develop secure configurations, implementation patterns, documentation, automated guardrails, and reusable agent skills that embed Databricks best practices into the AI-assisted software development lifecycle.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Databricks account configuration changes using version control, peer review, validation, and controlled deployments.
• Develop governed self-service tools for requesting and enabling approved Databricks capabilities through Terraform repositories or APIs.
• Partner with Information Security to implement access controls, technical guardrails, compliance patterns, and controls for managing technical debt.
• Operate the Databricks platform, including account configuration, monitoring, reliability, cost management, troubleshooting, runbooks, SQL-based system-table analysis, dashboards, and usage metrics.

Requirements

• 4+ years of hands-on Azure Databricks experience, including workspace administration, compute configuration, permissions, and cost management.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL sufficient to analyze platform logs.
• Practical experience with REST APIs, Terraform, Azure networking including Private Endpoints and vNETs, and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Experience with CI/CD using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
• Strong problem-solving, documentation, and cross-functional communication skills.

Nice to have

• Deep understanding of the Databricks control plane, compute planes, model serving architecture, and Genie.
• Experience governing Databricks at enterprise scale.
• Experience building scalable self-service platforms for engineers and working in platform engineering.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding agents and reusable context layers such as skills.md that encode engineering standards.
• Familiarity with policy-as-code, automated compliance checks, and configuration drift detection.
• Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Databricks audit logs, and system tables.
• Understanding of security risks including sensitive-data exposure, prompt injection, and excessive tool permissions.
• Current Databricks or Microsoft Azure certifications.
