Lead ETL Developer / Technical Architect - Big Data & Credit Risk (Databricks) (all humans)

Location: Vienna, Austria; full-time role with home office available.

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end architecture and design of enterprise-scale Credit Risk and Risk Analytics data platforms.
• Lead the development of large-scale ETL/ELT pipelines and ingestion frameworks for structured and semi-structured data.
• Build and optimize Databricks Lakehouse, Spark, PySpark, and Delta Lake solutions processing large volumes of banking risk data.
• Define data models, data layers, ingestion zones, curation processes, consumption models, metadata management, and data lineage frameworks.
• Set technical standards, coding practices, reusable patterns, governance, and technology roadmaps.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor development teams, collaborate with Risk, Data, and Business stakeholders, and support production issue resolution.

Requirements

• Extensive experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale Databricks Lakehouse solutions and establishing engineering best practices.
• Strong data engineering and data modelling expertise, including Data Vault, dimensional modelling, star schemas, canonical data models, and Lakehouse architectures.
• End-to-end solution delivery experience covering requirements analysis, architecture, development, testing, deployment, productionisation, operational support, and continuous improvement.
• Strong Agile experience leading cross-functional teams with Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe.
• Team leadership experience including technical mentoring, solution governance, stakeholder management, and delivery leadership.
• Advanced hands-on expertise across Azure, Databricks, GCP, AWS, and dbt.
• Experience building scalable, resilient, and highly performant data platforms supporting Credit Risk Analytics and Enterprise Data initiatives.
• Strong understanding of data quality, data lineage, metadata management, data governance, and platform observability.
• Extensive experience designing and optimizing ETL/ELT frameworks with Spark, PySpark, SQL, Delta Lake, and cloud-native services.
• Ability to translate complex credit risk and analytics requirements into robust technical solutions across Erste Group.
