Protein Expression Scientist (Biotech)

hirify.global is building an automated laboratory that enables AI agents to run biology experiments through integrated software, hardware, automation, data pipelines, and AI systems.

What you will do

• Run protein expression workflows using cell-free systems, E. coli, and potentially mammalian systems.
• Execute high-throughput DNA synthesis and assembly protocols, including PCR, Golden Gate, and Gibson.
• Run binding and characterization assays, including BLI, SPR, thermostability, enzyme activity, and developability assays.
• Troubleshoot protein expression, misfolding, and aggregation issues.
• Prepare reagents, manage samples, and track experiments in LabOS.
• Analyze experimental data and work with the automation team to adapt bench protocols for robotic workflows.

Requirements

• Hands-on molecular biology experience, including PCR, cloning, gel electrophoresis, and DNA purification.
• Protein expression experience with recombinant proteins in at least one expression system, including understanding of the basics.
• Experience with DNA assembly methods, including Golden Gate, Gibson, or restriction cloning.
• Hands-on experience with at least some biophysical or analytical characterization techniques, such as BLI, SPR, plate reader assays, nanoDSF, HPLC-SEC, or CE-SDS.
• Comfort with scripting in Python or a similar language for parsing data, generating plate maps, or automating repetitive analysis.
• BSc or MSc in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a relevant field; hands-on bench experience is more important than the degree.
• Strong organization and precision when tracking hundreds of constructs per week and following protocols exactly.
• Strong work ethic and comfort with experiments that may extend beyond standard working hours.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and independently solve problems.

• High-throughput DNA assembly experience.
• Experience with mammalian protein expression systems.
