Backend Software Engineering Intern (Undergraduate)

Location: San Mateo, CA, United States. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship now or in the future. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.

Intern pay range: $50 USD per hour during the internship period.

hirify.global develops the PlayStation ecosystem, including personalized recommendations and content discovery services.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and improve backend services for personalized recommendations and PlayStation content discovery.
• Build and integrate APIs, microservices, and data-processing components within distributed systems.
• Design, test, and deploy scalable software solutions focused on performance and reliability.
• Participate in technical design discussions, code reviews, sprint planning, demos, and deployment activities.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and cross-functional teams to understand requirements and develop technical solutions.
• Analyze existing systems, identify improvements, present work, and share technical learnings.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Expected graduation between May 2026 and December 2029 from an accredited university.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Java, Kotlin, Python, or C++.
• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, and software design principles.
• Basic understanding of databases, APIs, and backend software development.
• Self-motivation, ownership, curiosity, and willingness to learn new technologies.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
• Availability for the entire 12-week internship period during either May 17–August 6 or June 14–September 3.
• Authorization to work for any employer in the United States without current or future work visa sponsorship from hirify.global.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with microservice architectures, distributed systems, or cloud technologies.
• Experience with Spring Boot, AWS, Docker, or Kubernetes.
