Data Engineer (Microsoft Fabric)

Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; hybrid in-office/remote schedule with the position based in the Philadelphia office.

What you will do

• Support and modernize SQL Server/SSIS-based ETL processes and cloud data platforms, including Azure and Microsoft Fabric.
• Develop and maintain SQL Server, SSIS, Azure Data Factory, and Fabric Data Factory pipelines, data integration solutions, and SQL Server objects.
• Support data warehouse and OLTP environments through data ingestion, transformation, dimensional modeling, data quality management, performance optimization, and integration.
• Analyze data sources, interfaces, and dependencies; create data flow diagrams, ERDs, source-to-target mappings, data lineage, and technical documentation.
• Design integrations considering transaction volumes, data availability, timeliness, regulatory and retention requirements, security, privacy, and system dependencies.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production data, database, and integration issues in coordination with Business Analysts, Data Architects, Developers, DBAs, and other IT teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and at least 5 years of experience, including 3 years of SQL development experience.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory and Fabric Data Factory, including pipeline development, data integration, transformation, orchestration, integration with on-premises and cloud data sources, and Lakehouses for Fabric Data Factory.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Fabric and modern cloud data warehouse architectures, including Fabric Data Warehouse, Lakehouse, OneLake, and analytics services.
• Experience designing and implementing cloud-based ETL/ELT solutions using Microsoft Azure and Fabric.
• Experience with Online Transaction Processing using Microsoft SQL Server.
• Understanding of data warehouse design, including data marts, multidimensional database design, fact tables, star schemas, and snowflake schemas.
• Hands-on experience in SQL and stored procedure tuning and database reorganization.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; self-starter, strategic thinker, and problem solver.
• Computer skills including MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
