Principal Data Scientist (Auto Finance)

Location: Remote, with the work location listed as Southfield, Michigan, United States of America. Occasional domestic travel is required; international travel is never required.

Salary: $148,720–$223,080 USD per year.

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end decisioning and pricing optimization engine using historical and market data.
• Collect, prepare, profile, visualize, and analyze large-scale structured and unstructured data.
• Develop, evaluate, and implement statistical and machine learning models that guide business decisions and strategic planning.
• Partner with business owners to assess strategies, alternative deal structures, and business P&L expectations in auto finance markets.
• Lead complex, high-profile, enterprise-level data science initiatives and provide strategic guidance to business and executive stakeholders.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, data engineers, software engineers, application developers, and business process owners to build scalable solutions.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant experience; higher-degree education and research tenure may count toward the experience requirement.
• Undergraduate or advanced technical degree in mathematics, physics, engineering, finance, computer science, or a related field; a graduate degree is preferred.
• Advanced expertise in data science concepts, statistical techniques, data mining, advanced analytics, and mathematical methods.
• Experience using programming languages such as Python to extract and prepare data, apply statistics, and analyze big data.
• Ability to translate business problems into viable data science solutions and communicate insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to lead analytical projects autonomously, deliver presentations to executive audiences, and provide technical and strategic thought leadership.
• Experience collaborating across data science, data engineering, software engineering, business analysis, and business-owner teams.
• Ability to identify and manage technology, regulatory, governance, and business risks.

• Graduate degree in a relevant technical discipline.
• Knowledge of auto finance markets, industry trends, and optimization methodologies.
