Lead Release Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Warren, Michigan, United States; hybrid work with 3 days in-office and 2 days remote, with the ability to report to the local office required.

What you will do

• Execute structural and coolant hose components for Rechargeable Energy Storage System (RESS) thermal systems.
• Develop component requirements, DFMEA documentation, CTS templates, design evaluations, performance targets, test procedures, and validation plans.
• Finalize component designs for new architectures and ensure interface and packaging compatibility across RESS components.
• Collaborate with designers, program management teams, manufacturing, service, and purchasing on design selection, manufacturability, serviceability, and sourcing.
• Track validation status, review test results through Design Reviews Based on Test Results, and resolve development and validation issues.
• Work with the RESS Lead Design Release Engineer to execute optimal RESS designs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related field.
• Three years of experience as a Battery Cooling Lines Design and Release Engineer, Body Structures Design and Release Engineer, Body Structures Value and Optimization Engineer, or in a related occupation.
• Three years of experience with principles of design release engineering, program execution, and design engineering theory.
• Three years of experience writing technical documentation and engineering evaluation reports.
• Three years of experience reading, interpreting, and generating engineering drawings and specifications.
• Three years of experience with multi-material applications for body structures, conceptualizing and materializing design solutions, CAD, and CAE.
