Head of Engineering

hirify.global is building an automated laboratory that enables AI agents to run biology experiments through integrated software, hardware, data pipelines, and AI systems.

What you will do

• Own the engineering roadmap, deciding what to build, defer, or stop while maintaining pragmatic scope and delivery trade-offs.
• Set technical direction and architecture across frontend, backend, data pipelines, infrastructure, and lab-hardware integration.
• Ship production code on high-leverage problems while remaining actively hands-on.
• Lead, hire, develop, and scale a small engineering team responsible for reliable software supporting physical biology experiments and customer outcomes.
• Build AI-assisted development practices that improve the team's speed, tooling, workflow, and structure.

Requirements

• Several years of experience shipping production software and a desire to continue building code while leading.
• Previous experience hiring, managing, and developing engineers in a startup or high-growth environment, with at least one team built to a high delivery and quality standard.
• Experience owning or significantly shaping an engineering roadmap, including decisions about what to build, defer, or stop.
• Strong architectural judgment across frontend, backend, data, and infrastructure, with the ability to decide when to go deep and when to delegate.
• Experience building with AI agents and coding tools, plus a clear perspective on their impact on team structure, tooling, and workflow.
• Genuine interest in biology and enthusiasm for software that runs experiments in the physical world.
• High autonomy, strong prioritization, and a founder mindset.
