Yemen Researcher

Location: Fully remote; can be done from any location with reliable internet service. Open to nationals of any country. Minimum availability of 30–40 hours per week, including possible mid-week and weekend submissions.

Remuneration: $20 per hour.

hirify.global is an independent, impartial conflict and protest monitoring organization providing real-time data and analysis on violent conflict and protest worldwide.

What you will do

• Collect political violence and protest data related to Yemen by reviewing news, international organization, NGO, and security reports.
• Record incidents in an Excel template and code events ranging from protests to battles.
• Review and manage data to ensure quality, consistency, reliability, and holistic coverage.
• Submit accurate work independently and meet mid-week and weekend deadlines when required.
• Complete extensive hirify.global training exercises and a two-hour coding aptitude exercise as part of the evaluation.

Requirements

• University degree in international relations, political science, conflict studies, peacebuilding, international development, or a related field.
• Fluency in English and Arabic.
• Familiarity with Excel.
• Experience conducting desk-based research.
• Experience working to deadlines with limited supervision.
• High attention to detail and ability to receive and incorporate feedback.
• Familiarity with conflict and actors in the relevant countries.
• Access to a computer, reliable internet connection, email, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice to have

• Research focus or professional experience in conflict research or peacebuilding in the Middle East generally, or in country-specific studies.
