Cyber Range Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Full-time on-site in Annapolis Junction, Maryland, United States; occasional travel of up to 10% may be required. U.S. citizenship and a TS/SCI security clearance are required, with the ability to pass a CI polygraph if requested by the customer.

Salary: $120,000–$180,000 annual base salary.

What you will do

• Plan, build, and execute cybersecurity training, mission rehearsal, and validation events in cyber range environments.
• Build and configure virtual machines, virtual networks, accounts and roles, tools, and exercise injects for training scenarios.
• Implement and operate offensive and defensive training content, including red cell tools, defensive sensors, and supporting applications.
• Support event execution through readiness checks, user access support, troubleshooting, and rapid issue resolution.
• Configure and maintain Windows and Linux hosts, VMware infrastructure, virtual networks, DNS, routing, and TCP/IP across range enclaves.
• Coordinate with content developers, exercise staff, and stakeholders; maintain technical documentation and implement process, automation, and configuration improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, systems engineering, software engineering, or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university, or 6 years of relevant experience in lieu of the degree.
• 5+ years of combined experience with CNO, CNE, or CND platforms; cyber training and validation exercises; and planning, coordinating, and executing work with Cyber Protection Teams.
• Current DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II certification.
• TS/SCI security clearance and U.S. citizenship; ability to pass a CI polygraph if requested by the customer.
• Relevant networking engineering certification, cloud or VMware certification, and RedHat/Linux/Windows certification.
• Hands-on experience with Windows and Linux operating systems and VMware in virtualized environments.
• Ability to troubleshoot network connectivity, performance, and configuration issues involving DNS, routing, and TCP/IP.
• Intermediate knowledge of defensive and offensive cyber tools and techniques.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, collaborate with engineers of varying experience levels, communicate effectively with technical and business leadership, and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with or experience supporting the Joint Event Life Cycle.
• Experience supporting cyber training and validation exercises with Cyber Protection Teams.
• Experience using SIEMs, intrusion detection systems, or threat intelligence platforms.
• Experience using scripting or automation tools to streamline cybersecurity operations or environment setup.
