2027 Summer Co-op Process Chemistry

Location: Cambridge, MA; onsite. Must be able to relocate to the office location and work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, for the full six-month co-op.

Salary: $57 USD per hour.

What you will do

• Design and optimize novel synthetic pathways for drug substances undergoing clinical development.
• Use photochemistry, biocatalysis, flow chemistry, electrochemistry, process analytical technology, high-throughput experimentation, structural analysis, computational chemistry, AI/ML, and predictive tools to develop commercial processes.
• Plan and execute experiments to optimize reaction, purification, and isolation operations for safe, efficient, robust, and scalable batch or continuous manufacturing.
• Apply green chemistry principles to develop sustainable manufacturing routes.
• Develop and apply analytical techniques for structural characterization using NMR and LCMS.
• Analyze experimental data, document laboratory work in electronic notebooks according to SOPs, and collaborate professionally with mentors and team members while following HSE and compliance requirements.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a doctoral degree in Chemistry or a related field.
• Permanently authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring employment visa sponsorship now or in the future. Students on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT generally do not meet the program requirements unless eligible for an alternative long-term status without sponsorship.
• Enrolled in an accredited college or university throughout the co-op or internship.
• Able to relocate to the Cambridge office and work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, for the full duration of the six-month co-op.

Nice to have

• Completed chemistry and laboratory coursework.
• Experience using analytical instruments such as NMR and LCMS to interpret data and fully characterize novel organic compounds.
