TL;DR
Lead AI, Video Analytics and Aircraft Integration Engineer (AI/video analytics/aerospace): Developing vision-based solutions and moving machine-learning prototypes from laboratory environments to aircraft integration benches with an accent on edge inference, camera and sensor integration, and validation. Focus on designing deployable runtimes, optimizing models for embedded hardware, building evaluation datasets and metrics, and meeting aviation safety, certification, and GDPR requirements.

Location: Toulouse Area, France; based in Toulouse with flexible hours and an opportunity to work remotely alongside regular UpNext community events.

Company

hirify.global UpNext develops demonstrators to evaluate, mature, and validate new aerospace products and services, including future aircraft connectivity technologies.

What you will do

  • Own the technical architecture for moving vision-based machine-learning prototypes from laboratory environments to aircraft, including embedded or edge inference, latency and power budgets, and deployable, updatable runtimes.
  • Integrate cameras, onboard computing platforms, aircraft-system interfaces, new algorithms, and new sensors, including multi-sensor fusion.
  • Build validation processes with reference datasets, metrics, calibration, annotated data, labelling, quality checks, and train/validation splits.
  • Train, fine-tune, evaluate, benchmark, and report machine-learning models, including implementation of research algorithms in the Python codebase.
  • Set engineering standards for testing, reproducibility, model versioning, CI, documentation, unit tests, and regression tests; guide and review the junior computer vision engineer’s work.
  • Support target-hardware integration and collaborate with certification, safety, and privacy stakeholders to address aviation and GDPR requirements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience shipping machine-learning or computer-vision systems to production, including at least one deployment on edge or embedded hardware.
  • Strong Python and solid PyTorch, plus ONNX and TensorRT or an equivalent inference-optimization stack.
  • Practical experience with detection, tracking, and multi-camera geometry.
  • Experience building evaluation pipelines covering datasets, labelling, metrics, and regression tests.
  • Linux and Docker experience, with the ability to write clean, tested, maintainable code.
  • Experience with NVIDIA Jetson or similar edge platforms, GStreamer, or RTSP video pipelines.
  • Familiarity with 3D reconstruction or synthetic data for testing and validation.
  • Background in a regulated or safety-critical domain such as aerospace, rail, automotive, or medical, and experience with DO-178C, DO-254, or similar processes.
  • Experience with privacy-preserving video analytics, sensor fusion, or non-RGB sensors.
  • Ability to explain technical trade-offs clearly to non-specialists and document work clearly; curiosity, rigour, autonomy, adaptability, availability, and accountability.
  • Passion for technology and science, willingness to work in an international, diverse, geographically distributed team, and alignment with transparency, courage, humility, and empathy.
  • Negotiation-level English is mandatory.
  • Willingness to have fun.

Culture & Benefits

  • Limited fixed-term CDI-C contract linked to the demonstrator deliverable, with an estimated end date of the end of February 2028 and an ASAP start.
  • Strategic aerospace connectivity project with opportunities to develop expertise in connectivity technologies.
  • Agile, empowering startup-style environment supported by hirify.global expertise, with encouragement to take initiative and propose efficient ways of working.
  • Shared open-space office with experienced colleagues and a supportive, inclusive culture guided by the “Care for Each Other” value.
  • Flexible hours, ability to work remotely, regular UpNext community events, complimentary coffee, and beverages.
