ML Research Engineer (Computer Vision): Developing deep learning models that enable drones to navigate and localize themselves on the battlefield with an accent on multimodal perception, edge inference, and real-time performance. Focus on optimizing models for heterogeneous onboard platforms, building reproducible MLOps pipelines, and validating deployed systems through flight testing.
Location: On-site in Lausanne, Switzerland; Paris, France; or Zurich, Switzerland.

What you will do
- Design deep learning models that analyze drone environments across multiple modalities and enable localization through time and space.
- Deploy models on heterogeneous platforms with limited shared compute, optimizing the trade-off between speed and accuracy to reduce pipeline latency.
- Collaborate with VIO, Navigation, and Embedded Software teams to build a robust, real-time localization pipeline and communicate algorithmic trade-offs.
- Research current Deep Learning methods and introduce relevant cutting-edge approaches.
- Build, modify, and manage training, evaluation, and MLOps pipelines with reproducibility, robust logging, and version control.
- Participate in real-world flight tests, analyze field failures, and improve deployed models.
Requirements
- Strong academic record and a STEM degree, such as Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, or Mathematics.
- Proven industry experience researching and productizing Deep Learning models for Computer Vision in domains such as drones, robotics, or autonomous vehicles.
- Proficiency in Python and Deep Learning frameworks, including PyTorch or Lightning.
- Experience with MLOps and edge deployment optimization.
- Structured, analytical, and research-oriented approach.
- Excellent communication skills for translating complex algorithmic benchmarking results to downstream users and stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment with a no-task-is-too-small mentality.
