Senior Design Engineer, Wastewater

Location: Buffalo, New York, United States; other listed location: Rochester, New York, United States. Hybrid work with periodic onsite work at client water and wastewater facilities.

Base compensation: $101,600–$152,400 annually.

What you will do

• Plan and provide engineering design and consulting oversight for complex water, wastewater, and climate resiliency assignments.
• Conduct condition assessments and project site visits, prepare reports, perform process mechanical and hydraulic calculations, develop utility plans and technical specifications, and prepare cost estimates.
• Prepare design and construction documents for wastewater and water facilities, conveyance and treatment projects, and climate resiliency infrastructure.
• Review engineering designs, bid packages, RFPs, and Statements of Work prepared by others as part of program management activities.
• Lead assignments, mentor design and consulting staff, and collaborate with facility operations and maintenance teams.
• Support grant writing, infrastructure funding procurement, business development, and growth of water-sector programs and client relationships.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in water and wastewater design and engineering, including studies, design, and construction services for municipal clients.
• Demonstrated experience developing designs and construction contract documents for complex infrastructure projects.
• B.S. degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering preferred.
• Professional Engineering (PE) licensure or progress toward licensure preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
