Staff Engineer, Retail Media / AdTech Solutions (m/f/d)

Location: Berlin, Germany; remote work is possible. Work from anywhere in the EU is available for up to 20 days per year.

What you will do

• Drive the technical direction and architecture of the in-house Retail Media platform.
• Design and build scalable backend services, APIs, frontend applications, and Node.js/TypeScript microservices.
• Architect data-intensive and asynchronous workflows for campaign management, ad serving, targeting, and reporting.
• Lead complex engineering initiatives across teams, align architectural decisions, and establish technical standards.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, UX, Analytics, and Retail Media stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Mentor engineers while remaining hands-on with implementation and technical problem-solving.

Requirements

• Extensive software engineering experience in a Staff, Principal, Tech Lead, or similar technical leadership role.
• Strong expertise in backend engineering, distributed systems, and cloud-native architecture.
• Hands-on experience with Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, and modern frontend frameworks.
• Proven experience designing and scaling complex systems and leading initiatives across multiple engineering teams.
• Experience in AdTech, ideally involving Retail Media, sponsored advertising, ad serving, targeting, auctions, or attribution.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional product environments and influence technical direction.
