Generalist Engineer (AI)

hirify.global is an early-stage interface company building Stream, a private voice ring that listens, remembers, and helps extend human thinking through conversation.

What you will do

• Build integrations between Stream and the applications, services, and AI tools people use.
• Design agent tool definitions, result shaping, confirmation flows, and context passing.
• Own the integration layer, including OAuth, token lifecycle, least-privilege scopes, webhooks, rate limits, retries, and failure handling.
• Build and operate MCP servers and clients in production, including integrations for software without clean APIs.
• Instrument integrations to detect breakage before users notice.
• Contribute to the core backend and participate in its on-call rotation while working directly with the founders.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience, strong Python skills, and experience owning a live, real-time service.
• Production experience shipping third-party integrations using OAuth 2/OIDC, token refresh and revocation, webhooks, API versioning, and vendor-specific behavior.
• Strong software architecture skills and the ability to work with applications not written by you.
• Experience integrating tools into an LLM agent used by real users, with accountability for completed actions.
• Hands-on MCP experience.
• Generalist capability across backend development, authentication, client code, and agent logic, with the ability to take open-ended problems through to delivery without a specification.
• Product sense for software acting on a user's behalf, including when the user is not looking at a screen.
• Precise communication and explicit tradeoff analysis.

Nice to have

• Connector or plugin development for an AI product.
• Browser automation experience with tools such as Playwright or Chrome DevTools Protocol.
• Integration security experience, including scoped credentials, secret storage, prompt-injection defenses, and audit logging.
• Voice or multimodal assistant experience.
• Developer documentation used by other engineers.
