Senior Software Engineer (Rust/C++)

Location: Remote within the United States; must be a U.S. Person legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship

Base compensation: $94,900–$176,300 USD annually, with potential eligibility for an annual bonus.

What you will do

• Build and operate Rust backend services and supporting C#/.NET applications for a queue-driven document-processing platform handling millions of pages per day.
• Translate product and platform needs into scoped, testable functional and technical requirements.
• Design service architectures and document trade-offs involving cost, latency, quality, failure modes, security, and operability on Azure.
• Optimize throughput and latency using profiling, benchmarks, load tests, concurrency controls, autoscaling, retries, rate limiting, and bounded-memory streaming.
• Safely evolve APIs, message schemas, feature flags, and cross-repository contracts with backward-compatible rollout and rollback plans.
• Lead high-impact projects, mentor engineers, participate in on-call and incident response, and improve development workflows involving AI coding agents.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional experience building and operating production backend services in Rust or C++; willingness to work with Rust daily if coming from C++.
• Deep distributed-systems experience with message queues, at-least-once delivery, idempotency, backpressure, retries, timeouts, failure detection, and autoscaling.
• Experience leading complex, cross-team projects involving highly available or multi-region systems, storage selection, performance tuning, and large inputs.
• Strong experience with design documents, ADRs or RFCs, testing across unit, integration, and load levels, secure defaults, CI/CD, code review, and technical writing.
• Hands-on experience with agentic development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot, plus mentoring and production ownership.
• Must be located in the United States, be a U.S. Person, and already have authorization to work without current or future visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Rust experience with Tokio, typed error handling, and performance or memory tuning.
• Experience with document AI, OCR, PDF internals, file conversion, or very large inputs.
• Experience with AI-agent developer tooling, including prompts, skills, MCP servers, multi-agent review, or evaluation.
• Azure, Kubernetes autoscaling, multi-region deployments, C#/.NET, third-party vendor failover, or regulated environments.
