Optomechanics-Thermal Senior Staff Engineer

What you will do

• Own optomechanical, mechanical, and thermal design, simulation, validation, and integration for next-generation Ethernet switching systems and reference designs.
• Develop thermal solutions and address mechanical challenges at PCB, chassis, and rack levels for AI data center customers.
• Collaborate with hardware, SIE, firmware, validation, and silicon teams on cooling, power delivery packaging, structural integrity, and manufacturability.
• Lead optomechanical and thermal engagement with ODMs and component vendors.
• Design and execute laboratory experiments from design of experiments through measurement, analysis, and corrective action.
• Debug mechanical and thermal failures, drive root-cause analysis to closure, and apply lessons learned to future products.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in optomechanics, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
• 15+ years of related professional experience, including 8–10 years in optomechanical, mechanical, and thermal design engineering in the electronics industry.
• Experience with industry-standard CAD and FEA tools, CAD software, ECAD-MCAD collaboration tools, design-for-manufacturability principles, and industry trends.
• Proficiency in optomechanical and mechanical drawings, GD&T, and tolerance-analysis methods.
• Knowledge of fiber-optic and copper cabling standards and testing equipment.
• Strong knowledge of Ethernet, PCIe, OCP, and JEDEC standards, plus experience designing and testing liquid cooling solutions from cold plates to rack-level manifolds.
