Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer (Medical Devices)

Location: Newton, Massachusetts, United States; minimum four days per week onsite

Salary: $106,400–$159,600 annually in the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and certain California locations.

What you will do

• Conceptualize, prototype, design, and develop mechanical elements for cardiac electrophysiology catheters, sheaths, and Class II and III medical devices.
• Develop manufacturing and assembly processes for complex catheter assemblies with miniature precision electromechanical components.
• Design and implement test methods and fixtures for characterization and validation.
• Improve manufacturing processes and tooling, troubleshoot assembly issues, and support recovery plans with Quality teams.
• Participate in design reviews, Design and Process FMEAs, laboratory demonstrations, and pre-clinical in-vivo evaluations.
• Work cross-functionally with electronics and software engineers, component manufacturers, clinicians, and industry professionals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience, Master’s degree with at least 2 years, or PhD with no required prior experience.
• Strong mechanical product design experience and command of engineering fundamentals.
• Excellent working knowledge of 3D CAD tools; SolidWorks is preferred.
• Must have unrestricted U.S. work authorization at the time of hire and throughout employment.
• Ability and willingness to work in a laboratory environment and attend onsite activities.
• For qualifying degrees earned outside the United States, the degree must satisfy the applicable U.S. H-1B educational requirements.
