Principal Applications Engineer (Precision Signal Chain)

Location: Chandler, Arizona, United States; other location: Austin, Texas. Travel: 0–25%.

What you will do

• Define device specifications, product goals, features, application requirements, and derivatives for new products.
• Translate customer needs and market input into product requirements and evaluate architecture trade-offs with design engineering.
• Evaluate new silicon in real-world applications and bring up reference and evaluation hardware for complete precision signal chains.
• Create application notes, design guides, reference designs, evaluation-board documentation, datasheets, and simulation-model collateral.
• Resolve escalated customer and field applications issues and deliver technical training on product and signal-chain design.
• Provide technical guidance to junior applications engineers while collaborating across the product-development lifecycle.

Requirements

• BSEE, MSEE, or PhD with 10+ years of experience in analog/mixed-signal applications, design, validation, or systems engineering.
• Deep hands-on expertise in precision linear/analog products or data converters, plus working knowledge of the other area.
• Experience contributing to product requirements or device definition.
• Strong bench evaluation, debugging, PCB design, hardware bring-up, and standard laboratory instrumentation skills.
• Proficiency with SPICE simulation and circuit-analysis or design-verification tools.
• Strong technical communication, documentation, project-management, independent-work, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Depth across both linear/analog products and data converters.
• Embedded programming over SPI, QSPI, I2C, or I3C, and data analysis or lab automation with Python or MATLAB.
• AMS, behavioral modeling, or SPICE macromodel development experience.
• Customer design-in support, requirements discovery, technical training, or published application notes and articles.
• Experience in industrial, energy metering, medical, or automotive applications.
