Hardware Development and Validation Engineer (Fuel Injector Test Benches)

Location: Pontiac, Michigan, United States; hybrid with on-site work at the Pontiac test facility at least 3 times per week

What you will do

• Execute fuel injector development and validation testing across multiple engine programs.
• Develop and run first-time-capable tests on fuel injector test benches.
• Diagnose and resolve issues during test setup, execution, and post-test investigations.
• Track test status, risks, and issues while supporting program milestones.
• Create MATLAB and Python post-processing tools, analyze data, and improve test efficiency.
• Support test reduction, lab virtualization, standard work, documentation, and mentoring of new engineers and co-ops.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, electrical, or chemical engineering, computer science, physics, or a related engineering discipline.
• At least 2 years of automotive engineering experience with engine knowledge.
• Experience with computer and data acquisition systems used in test environments.
• Experience analyzing data to optimize testing, assess hardware performance, or support model correlation.
• Experience creating and using MATLAB and Python scripts for data analysis and post-processing.
• Must be able to work on-site in Pontiac, Michigan as part of the hybrid schedule; GM does not provide immigration sponsorship, and applicants must not require sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Experience with ETAS INCA and engine calibration.
• Four or more years of automotive engineering experience in engine development or testing.
• Hands-on fuel injector test bench setup and testing experience.
• Experience with engine function, architecture, subsystems, and fuel injection testing.
