Wholesale Insurance Accounting Manager

Location: On-site in Great Neck, New York, United States; candidates should be comfortable with an on-site presence for collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership.

Salary: $120,000–$150,000 base compensation per year.

What you will do

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including AP/AR, agency billing, commission revenue reporting, and reconciliations.
• Prepare premium payable worksheets, monthly journal entries, trial balances, general ledger reports, bond lists, and management reports.
• Reconcile bank statements, arrange wires and ACH payments, and maintain banking relationships.
• Manage carrier payables policies, controls, quality assurance reviews, renewals, invoices, releases, and cancellations.
• Supervise, coach, and support accounting staff, consultants, external resources, and overseas resources.
• Identify financial and operational risks, resolve discrepancies with carriers and MGAs, and improve accounting workflows.

Requirements

• At least 4–5 years of accounting experience, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and supervisory responsibility.
• Required experience in wholesale insurance accounting, including program business, E&S lines, commission accounting, carrier/MGA relationships, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong knowledge of operational and financial accounting, reconciliations, revenue reporting, and insurance agency accounting.
• Experience supervising, mentoring, and developing accounting staff and coordinating with carriers to resolve discrepancies.
• Experience with Applied Epic or a similar insurance agency management system.
• Advanced Excel skills for data analysis, reconciliations, and reporting; familiarity with AI and automation tools is required.
