Senior Consultant: Inpatient Auditor Quality & Education (Inpatient Coding)

What you will do

• Perform inpatient facility coding audits and quality reviews for internal coders and auditors across varied record types.
• Evaluate ICD-10-CM/PCS assignment and sequencing, POA indicators, discharge disposition, MS-DRG and APR-DRG assignment, and related CC/MCC, SOI, and ROM impacts.
• Run audit reports, analyze coding trends and performance patterns, and recommend corrective actions and quality improvements.
• Research AHA Coding Clinic, official ICD-10-CM/PCS guidelines, the AHA Coding Handbook, and other authoritative sources to support audit findings.
• Provide feedback, coaching, peer review, calibration, and education for coders, auditors, clients, and staff.
• Contribute to senior-level projects, including ICD-10 assessments, audit tools, training materials, applicant coding tests, and client coding content.

Requirements

• Active RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification.
• Two to five years of inpatient facility coding audit and review experience, plus prior inpatient coding experience.
• Advanced knowledge of inpatient coding, including ICD-10-CM/PCS, POA, discharge disposition, MS-DRG, APR-DRG, CC/MCC, SOI, and ROM.
• Strong research, critical-thinking, organizational, time-management, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple audits and deadlines while maintaining accuracy, objectivity, and impartiality.
• Ability to use audit software and securely transfer files in compliance with HIPAA requirements.
