Director, Commissions Operations – Life & Annuity

Location: Hybrid, requiring three days per week in the office at a hub location in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Denver, Colorado; or Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Occasional travel of less than 10%. Relocation assistance is not provided.

Salary: $113,000–$130,000 annually, plus potential eligibility for an annual bonus.

What you will do

• Lead commission operations for life and annuity products and ensure reliable service delivery to agents and customers.
• Develop and execute operational strategy, oversee daily operations, and manage budgets and resources.
• Lead, mentor, and develop operations managers and high-performing multifunctional teams.
• Identify operational improvements, coordinate cross-functional projects, and present proposals to executive leadership.
• Monitor operational health, risks, dependencies, KPIs, financial objectives, and customer experience using data.
• Serve as an escalation point and build productive partnerships with internal leaders and external vendor partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a business field or equivalent experience.
• At least 10 years of experience in operations, preferably in insurance or financial services.
• At least five years of management experience.
• Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, communication, influencing, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, explain complex concepts, and deliver data-driven presentations.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without immigration sponsorship or employer-of-record immigration support.

• In-depth knowledge of insurance practices and principles.
