Director of Subcontracts Management (Aerospace & Defense)

Location: On-site in Chandler, Arizona, five days per week; approximately 20% business travel. Relocation candidates may be considered. Only U.S. citizens are eligible for employment.

What you will do

• Lead the government subcontracting function and serve as the senior subject matter expert for FAR, DFARS, CPSR, export controls, and subcontract compliance.
• Establish governance, standard work, policies, documentation controls, and audit-readiness practices for subcontract actions and customer submissions.
• Lead, coach, and develop the Subcontracts Management Team, including organizational design, succession planning, performance management, and training.
• Oversee the full lifecycle of complex, high-risk, and high-value subcontracts, including sourcing, negotiation, award, administration, supplier performance, and closeout.
• Direct cost and price analysis, negotiation strategy, supplier risk management, claims, disputes, and financial accountability.
• Implement scalable digital workflows, contract analytics, ERP/MRP improvements, automation, and responsible AI-enabled tools.

Requirements

• Extensive progressive experience in U.S. Government subcontract management, including FAR/DFARS, acquisition compliance, complex subcontract administration, and regulatory governance.
• At least five years of leadership experience managing multi-level teams and leading transformation, scaling, change management, and process standardization.
• Strong knowledge of CPSR expectations and DCMA/DCAA oversight, including audit readiness and compliant documentation.
• Experience with cost and price analysis, negotiation, complex subcontract awards, supplier risk management, and financial accountability.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, engineering, or a related field, supported by relevant government subcontracting expertise.
• U.S. citizenship is required for employment due to U.S. Government contract requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience leading CPSR reviews, government audits, or corrective-action programs.
• Experience in aerospace and defense primes, major subcontractors, or government agencies.
• Experience with digital procurement transformation, automation, and responsible AI-enabled workflow adoption.
• Oracle, SAP, or comparable enterprise ERP experience; MBA, PMP, CPSM, CPCM, NCMA, Lean, or Six Sigma credentials.
• Active or prior security clearance.
