Lead Software Engineer, Backend (Go)

Location: Onsite at the Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia office

What you will do

• Lead the technical direction of the Partner Integration service and write RFCs and technical specifications for partner-facing APIs, webhooks, and large-scale menu and catalog synchronization.
• Design durable public API contracts covering versioning, backward compatibility, OAuth2, HMAC, multi-tenant isolation, and sandbox parity.
• Oversee reliability, scalability, performance, data consistency, and cloud costs across production services.
• Lead incident response, blameless post-mortems, rollout and rollback strategies, feature flags, migrations, and shadow comparisons.
• Own cross-team projects such as platform migrations and Partner API launches in new markets.
• Mentor engineers, improve coding and testing standards, support knowledge sharing, and participate in hiring.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of backend software engineering experience, including at least 2 years as a technical lead or design owner for production systems.
• Strong expertise in Go, Java, Scala, or C++; Go is the primary language.
• Experience designing and operating external-facing APIs or third-party integration platforms.
• Strong knowledge of microservices, distributed systems, asynchronous messaging, retries, idempotency, ordering, deduplication, caching, distributed locking, and eventual consistency.
• Deep experience with MySQL under heavy production load and familiarity with DynamoDB, Redis, and Elasticsearch.
• Experience operating cloud production services with observability, SLOs, capacity planning, on-call leadership, and safe rollout practices.

Nice to have

• Experience integrating POS, ERP, e-commerce, food delivery, or logistics systems.
• Experience with product catalog, menu, inventory, webhook delivery, or large-scale migration systems.
• Public technical contributions such as engineering articles, open-source work, or conference talks.
