Specialist, Software Engineering 1 (Embedded C++)

Location: Onsite in Carlsbad, California or Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. Occasional customer support travel of approximately 5% is required.

Salary: $97,000–$180,000 per year in California.

What you will do

• Architect and develop embedded real-time software and core system infrastructure using VxWorks, Linux, Windows, and other platforms.
• Define operational performance requirements and integrate software and hardware components with cross-functional teams.
• Contribute across the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, and formal testing.
• Create software test plans, procedures, and technical documentation.
• Participate in peer reviews and identify, track, troubleshoot, and resolve defects.
• Provide occasional customer support travel, approximately 5%.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience, or a graduate degree with at least 2 years of related experience.
• In lieu of a degree, at least 8 years of relevant experience.
• Experience developing embedded real-time software with VxWorks or Linux.
• Strong knowledge of programming languages, compilers, and application execution.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance; security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.
• Ability to work onsite in Carlsbad, California, or Salt Lake City, Utah.

Nice to have

• Advanced C++ proficiency and experience with high-performance or multithreaded programming.
• Hands-on development and troubleshooting on embedded targets using an RTOS.
• Knowledge of signal processing, control systems theory, networking fundamentals, or protocols such as IP, UDP, TCP, IPSec, DDS, or SNMP.
• Professional experience in the Department of Defense or intelligence community.
• Strong communication, presentation, writing, and teamwork skills.
