TL;DR

Senior Mechanical Engineer - Thermal Systems: Design and develop innovative thermal systems for sleep fitness products from concept through to production with an accent on thermal performance, size, noise, and cost optimization. Focus on thermal and fluid analysis to optimize product performance and creating test plans to validate analytical results. The position is based out of our San Francisco office and requires ~20% travel to China to support manufacturing activities.

What you will do

  • Ensure products have industry-leading thermal performance by owning the architecture and design of thermal systems from concept to production.
  • Perform thermal and fluid analysis to optimize factors such performance, size, noise, and cost.
  • Work closely with suppliers and cross-functional teams to implement designs.
  • Create and execute test plans to characterize prototypes and validate analytical results.
  • Design test systems for use in development and in production.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in thermal system design (e.g. heatsinks, heat pipes, TECs, insulation strategies, thermally conductive materials).
  • Expertise in thermal and fluid analysis, heat transfer fundamentals, thermal instrumentation, DOEs, and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Highly proficient with simulation (e.g. IcePak, Fluent) and data analysis tools (e.g. Python, Matlab)
  • Experience shipping high-volume consumer products, including manufacturing support in Asia.
  • Proficient in CAD (e.g. Solidworks, NX, Creo) and DFM/DFA.
  • BSME or equivalent (MS or PhD preferred).
  • Willingness and ability to travel to China as needed.
