Software Engineer II, Backend (Card)

Location: Remote Poland; most roles can be located anywhere in Poland.

Base pay: 259,000–379,000 zł per year. Additional equity is awarded in US dollars.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and launch backend systems supporting Affirm Card checkout and in-app experiences.
• Break larger projects into deliverable phases and collaborate with engineering, product management, design, and analytics.
• Articulate technical constraints and help evaluate risks and trade-offs during product development.
• Create and monitor operational metrics, support service availability, and participate in on-call efforts.
• Contribute to engineering quality through code reviews, debugging, interviews, and team development activities.

Requirements

• 2+ years of software engineering experience.
• Backend development experience with proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
• Familiarity with distributed systems, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Ability to write clear, well-tested, extensible code and work effectively in a large codebase.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
