Principal Data Engineer (Identity & Device Data)

Salary: $179,700–$241,000 per year in New York; $187,900–$252,000 per year in San Francisco.

What you will do

• Define technical strategy, pipeline architecture, platform patterns, and modernization roadmaps for Identity & Device data products.
• Lead complex initiatives across Identity360, consumer identifier datasets, and related Marketing data products.
• Act as the principal subject-matter expert for data modeling, batch and near-real-time processing, performance, and production reliability.
• Establish engineering standards for code quality, CI/CD, observability, data governance, and reusable platform patterns.
• Partner with Product, QA, Operations, Privacy/Legal, enterprise architecture, and peer data squads.
• Mentor leads and senior engineers through design reviews, pairing, and coaching.

Requirements

• 10+ years of related big data engineering experience developing large data pipelines with Python, Scala, or Java.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with distributed systems such as Hadoop or Databricks, including performance tuning at petabyte scale.
• Experience with an MPP or cloud database such as Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, or Databricks.
• Strong knowledge of data modeling, data warehousing, data integration, orchestration, CI/CD, and Terraform.
• Experience operating multi-system production environments as a senior engineer and technical subject-matter expert.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a comparable field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Strong AWS fundamentals, including S3, Lambda, and IAM.
• Experience with Spark, Presto, Hive, Airflow, and slowly changing dimension tables.
