Hardware Lab Technician (x86)

Location: Onsite in San Jose, California, United States; duties are performed at the hirify.global test laboratory.

Salary: USD 81,400–164,400 annual base salary in California. Variable incentives may also be offered.

What you will do

• Prototype hardware for proof-of-concept studies and benchmark new and existing platforms and components.
• Perform qualification testing, electronic debugging, component-level and PCBA-level troubleshooting, and failure analysis.
• Prepare test and qualification reports, document failures and reproduction steps, and manage assigned Jira bugs.
• Set up, test, and monitor systems in reliability destructive testing racks.
• Load operating systems, firmware, and drivers onto platforms and components.
• Collaborate with hardware engineering, quality, and cross-functional teams to troubleshoot field returns and returned appliances.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience supporting qualification and troubleshooting of x86 servers, storage appliances, and/or switches.
• Proficiency with through-hole and SMT soldering, schematics, circuit board layouts, and MPI documentation.
• Working knowledge of test and measurement equipment, electronic debugging, networking, and system configuration.
• Experience with Linux, Microsoft Word and Excel, and database systems such as Salesforce, Agile, or Xataface.
• Ability to lift 65 lbs regularly and communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
• Familiarity with embedded x86, chipsets, PCIe, SATA/NVMe, networking technologies, and system architecture is advantageous.
