Sr Research Lead (Clinical Research)

Location: Full-time onsite in San Ramon, California, 5 days per week; permanent authorization to work in the United States is required. The role is not eligible for employer-sponsored work authorization or relocation assistance.

Salary: $179,194–$255,991 per year, with possible cost-of-living adjustments and additional compensation.

What you will do

• Establish, optimize, and implement research programs addressing unmet eyecare needs and defined business opportunities.
• Guide cross-functional research teams, achieve milestones, and advance sub-program goals with minimal management oversight.
• Design research protocols, conduct appropriate statistical analysis, and produce reports with clear conclusions and next steps.
• Identify and manage external research partners, including scopes of work, contracts, data ownership, milestones, and reporting.
• Support invention applications and apply research findings, industry trends, and competitor insights to product development.
• Apply medical-device regulatory requirements and identify gaps in research standard operating procedures.

Requirements

• PhD plus 10 years of clinical research experience, or OD/equivalent plus PhD and 5 years of clinical research experience.
• Intermediate knowledge of research design, statistical analysis, medical writing, GCP, and Design Control.
• Permanent, ongoing authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship is required.
• Ability to work extensively with employees, outside researchers, and cross-functional teams.
• Availability for full-time onsite work in San Ramon, California, five days per week.
• Some travel to research partners, international conferences, and other company sites is required.
