Cloud Engineer (AWS/Azure)

Location: Two opportunities in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, or Kansas City, United States. Working arrangements will be confirmed during the recruitment process.

Salary: $150,000–$160,000 per annum; an indicative ceiling of 180,000 was discussed, with currency and package dependent on location.

What you will do

• Design, deploy, and maintain scalable AWS and Azure infrastructure.
• Build secure cloud networks, firewall configurations, and hybrid connectivity using VPN, Direct Connect, and ExpressRoute.
• Maintain and improve Infrastructure as Code with AWS CDK and TypeScript.
• Support cloud migrations, CI/CD infrastructure, and application deployments.
• Monitor performance, availability, and security while resolving incidents and remediating vulnerabilities.

Requirements

• At least five years of hands-on AWS and/or Azure experience.
• Strong knowledge of cloud networking, including VPCs/VNets, subnets, routing, and DNS.
• Experience managing firewalls and security controls, ideally with Palo Alto.
• Practical Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD experience.
• Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Relevant degree or equivalent qualification, plus strong communication and troubleshooting skills.

Nice to have

• AWS Solutions Architect or Microsoft Azure certifications.
• Experience with AWS CDK, TypeScript, and GitHub Actions.
• Multi-cloud or hybrid cloud experience.
• Knowledge of zero trust, network segmentation, and cloud monitoring tools.
