What you will do

• Develop a deep understanding of disease biology and identify novel drug targets in non-oncology indications.
• Generate robust data for preclinical validation of therapeutic targets and advance the understanding of disease mechanisms.
• Design and execute in vitro and ex vivo mechanism-of-action experiments, including assay optimization and troubleshooting.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data and complex datasets.
• Present research findings in written and oral formats to internal teams and external collaborators.
• Contribute as a scientific and technical expert to cross-functional drug development teams.

Requirements

• PhD, or a master’s degree with 2 years of molecular and cell biology experience, or a bachelor’s degree with 4 years of molecular and cell biology experience.
• Experience with cell-based, molecular, and biochemical techniques, including RNA isolation, qPCR, protein immunoprecipitation, immunoblotting, ELISA, flow cytometry, and cell imaging.
• Experience conducting in vitro and cellular assays to study gene function or therapeutic molecule mechanisms of action.
• Strong data analysis, scientific communication, interpersonal, organizational, and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to work on-site in South San Francisco, California.

Nice to have

• Experience with cell line engineering, including CRISPR and virus-based stable cell line generation.
• Expertise with human iPSCs, particularly iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes.
• High-impact publications demonstrating relevant assay and disease biology experience.
