Engineering Manager, Growth Expansion

Location: New York, New York; based in the New York City office

Base wage: $212,000–$274,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead and support a team of software engineers as a player-coach, combining hands-on coding with people management.
• Prioritize, schedule, and deliver product features with Engineering, Design, and Product.
• Define the long-term strategy and quarterly roadmap for the Growth Expansion team, including goals and success metrics.
• Build customer signals, in-product nudges, and self-service upsell and cross-sell experiences.
• Mentor, hire, develop, and retain engineers while fostering technical excellence and continuous learning.
• Guide technical decisions and coordinate with teams across hirify.global to improve user workflows and experiences.

Requirements

• Based in the New York City office.
• 7+ years of experience as a software engineer working on production web applications.
• At least 1 year of experience managing a team of engineers.
• Experience prioritizing, developing, and executing plans.
• Strong communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Understanding of data structures, data stores, algorithms, distributed systems, and common web development patterns.

Nice to have

• Experience with Golang, Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, MySQL, Kafka, AWS, Git, Memcache, Redis, Elasticsearch, Docker, Terraform, Kubernetes, CircleCI, or Datadog.
