Senior Software Engineer (Platform Engineering)

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco or Menlo Park, California; office attendance Monday through Thursday, with Fridays available to work from anywhere

Salary: $175,000–$225,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Design and build internal tools, shared services, automation, and self-service capabilities for engineering teams.
• Own CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, cloud infrastructure, and developer environments.
• Build reusable frameworks and foundational services that improve development speed and reduce manual work.
• Improve observability, monitoring, debugging, and operational tooling for production systems.
• Partner with engineering teams to identify bottlenecks and drive adoption of platform capabilities.
• Lead foundational engineering projects from architecture and implementation through rollout and maintenance.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building and scaling backend software, infrastructure, or platform systems in production.
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, deployment systems, and production environments.
• Experience building internal developer tools, automation, shared services, or infrastructure for multiple engineering teams.
• Ability to lead technical projects end to end and make decisions balancing developer productivity, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and experience translating developer pain points into scalable technical solutions.
• Technical assessment and onsite systems design and behavioral interviews are part of the hiring process.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS, serverless architectures, infrastructure as code, or cloud-native systems.
• Experience with observability, monitoring, or incident management tooling.
• Experience in mid- or growth-stage startups where infrastructure evolved alongside rapid product development.
• Experience measuring developer adoption, deployment frequency, system reliability, or engineering efficiency.
