Engineering Manager - Systems Triage (Metrics & Analysis)

Location: Remote in the United States, or hybrid office work in Ann Arbor, Michigan; Blacksburg, Virginia; or Fort Worth, Texas.

Hiring range: $160,800–$193,000 USD annually, plus bonus and stock options.

Develops software for autonomous trucks and automated driving systems in partnership with Daimler.

What you will do

• Lead a small team responsible for system triage, metrics, reporting, and data analysis.
• Prioritize stakeholder requests, assign workload, remove blockers, and support delivery to engineering and customer-facing teams.
• Coach team members on data analysis, tooling practices, and professional development.
• Track test escapes, system performance, defect ratios, software quality, and software maturity metrics from self-driving truck data.
• Develop and maintain Python-based analysis scripts, data pipelines, dashboards, and visualization tools.
• Combine environment observations with event logs, support root-cause investigations, improve defect tracking, and present findings to engineering leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, systems engineering, data science, or a related technical field; equivalent experience may substitute.
• 2–5 years of industry experience in data analysis, metrics reporting, or test and defect tracking, including experience leading or mentoring a small team.
• Experience with Python and SQL for data analysis, metric development, data pipelines, and visualization tooling.
• Hands-on Jira experience and familiarity with software quality reporting concepts.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work with evolving software and hardware infrastructure in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with embedded systems, ADAS, autonomous driving software, sensors, networking, compute hardware, or control systems.
• Experience testing autonomous vehicles, ROS-based robotics systems, or ADAS features.
• Experience with build systems, containers, source control, real-time systems, or safety-critical software.
• Experience with Jama for requirements management and traceability.
