Engineering Intern (Automation)

Location: Onsite in Tampa, FL; internship work is performed in Odessa, FL

What you will do

• Collaborate with a peer to define the project scope, engineering strategy, and physical and electrical architecture.
• Define components, create bills of material, and coordinate purchasing against project deadlines.
• Assemble automation hardware, route wiring, and mount components alongside manufacturing shop teams.
• Write operational logic, configure the operator interface, and download software to the machine.
• Test, troubleshoot, debug, and optimize the system at full operational speed before presenting a live demonstration.

Requirements

• Junior or senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or a similar field.
• Strong exposure to SolidWorks 3D modeling or experience with ladder logic, structured text, and electrical schematics.
• Hands-on, problem-solving mindset with an interest in rapid prototyping and collaborative engineering.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States; employment eligibility is verified through E-Verify.
