Infrastructure Software Engineer (Topology and Observability)

Location: Mountain View, California, or remote within the United States

Annual base compensation: $135,000–$190,000, depending on geographic location and experience.

What you will do

• Design and maintain an infrastructure topology data model covering physical, logical, and service layers.
• Build low-impact collectors, parsers, and Python pipelines that gather and reconcile configuration, inventory, metrics, and log data.
• Develop web frontend and backend services for hierarchical topology navigation, dependency visualization, and deep links to alerts, tickets, runbooks, and dashboards.
• Design blast-radius calculations, failure-domain analysis, and change scenario simulations.
• Provide topology and dependency data for alert correlation, automated root cause analysis, incident response, and AIOps workflows with human review.
• Own data accuracy, freshness, system reliability, performance, and staged adoption across consuming teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in infrastructure, platform engineering, SRE, or network automation across cloud and on-premises environments.
• Knowledge of hypervisor-based virtualization, compute host operations, L2/L3 networking, routing protocols such as BGP, overlay networks such as VXLAN, and Linux networking.
• Experience building Python data pipelines with schema definition and validation tooling.
• Experience modeling and processing data in analytical, columnar, graph, or similar data stores.
• Experience visualizing large graph or topology datasets on the web with D3, Cytoscape, or similar tools.
• Must be able to work from Mountain View, California, or remotely within the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with large-scale multi-region cloud or IaaS environments, CMDBs, inventories, NetBox, Nautobot, or network sources of truth.
• Experience with service dependency mapping, failure-domain analysis, digital-twin simulation, or automated diagram generation.
• AIOps experience in alert correlation, anomaly detection, root cause analysis, and incident response automation.
• Experience applying LLM-based agents to operational workflows with deterministic validation and human review.
• Experience collaborating with security teams on exposure-surface or attack-path visualization.
